The Big Mistake in saying Hafiz or Hafidh.

All my Indo from Bangladesh, Pakistan and India Brothers and Sisters there a huge mistake, many of you say in Arabic for the one who Memorize the Quran. You say this person is Hafiz this word you pronounce in Arabic does not mean a person who memorize the Quran it means ‘ to stab or to pierce with a spear or knife’. It also means to incite, instigate or urge, incentive.

حَفَزَ يحَفِزُ حَفْز

and the word

حَافَزٌ جمع حَوَافَز

means spur drive on or into, initiative.

حَافِزٌ أو حَافِزَةٌ

Means incentive or impulse also as a noun and adjective

The word you looking for is:

حَافِظٌ

Ha-fi-dh yes  which means the one who preserve something or memorize something.
