Shaykh Dr. Salih bin Abdullah al Fawzan stated about learning Arabic in his lecture Ethics of Seeking knowledge guidelines for the Students of Knowledge:
He also reads in the books of Arabic grammar, because the Quran and Sunnah were both sent down in the Arab’s language. So it’s a must that he reads (studies) the Arabic grammar until he knows the meanings of the Verses (of Quran)and Hadiths (statements of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم). And he knows also to articulate speech from the direction of a linguistic (of the Arabic language, and master it). Until he sound from grammar mistakes (in Arabic language) and errors because knowledge or Arabic grammar helps him with understanding the Nasoos (text which is Quran and Sunnah).
